Advocacy Mock Trial
Alison Bennet volunteered as a judge in the mock trials conducted by advocacy students from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law on March 24, 2016. The mock trial related to charges under the Highway Traffic Act, relating to use of a cellular phone while driving. The issue was identity of the accused, and whether the correct individual had been charged. 2nd year advocacy students acted as Crown and defence lawyers, while first year students played the parts of the accused, the police officer, court clerk and videographer. The students were eager, and well prepared. The exercise took place at the Law Courts.
